Message from the Chair

Greetings. In this latest issue of The E.D. Dispatch, we’re pleased to share updates on the department’s growth and achievements. We welcome our new residents and introduce our fellows in Toxicology, Sports Medicine, Research, and Emergency Medical Services, who will no doubt add strength to our department.

We are proud to recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Utsav Nandi, who recently received a Bronze Level Excellence in Research Award for his work combating opioid misuse through emergency department interventions. His research exemplifies the kind of difference our department strives to make every day. In our Alumni Spotlight, we reconnect with Dr. Ben Hudson, who continues to make an impact beyond UMMC. Additionally, we feature a Faculty Spotlight on Dr. Trey Wofford, who has recently returned from a seven-month sailing journey through the Caribbean—a testament to the adventurous spirit that often defines our field.
